Nelson Atkins Museum of Fine Arts
Commonly referred to as “The Nelson” by most Kansas City locals, this museum is a must see for anyone traveling to KC. From its stunning sculpture garden to its fascinating exhibits, this museum has it all. It has also been featured in many international publications, and the moment you step onto the grounds you will understand why. General admission is by donation only, so it is the perfect afternoon activity for the entire family!
The Plaza Shopping District
Known for its unique spanish architecture, the Plaza is a shoppers paradise! This 12 block district offers some of the best cuisine Kansas City has to offer. Make sure to check out your guestbook for a list of shops, restaurants and more!
Westport Entertainment District
Remnants of Westport’s 19th-century charm color the neighborhood with historic buildings, old-style lampposts and tree-lined boulevards that almost beg for a long walk. History buffs will find a walking trail with placards that recount the area’s storied history and the Battle of Westport, the largest Civil War conflict west of the Mississippi.
Crossroads Art District
The crossroads is located just shy of Downtown Kansas City and offers a wide variety of art galleries, boutique shops, and delicious restaurants to experience! Make sure to stop into the Up-Down KC, a popular (adult only) arcade bar. Grab a drink and a slice of their mac and cheese pizza, all while playing your favorite arcade games!
Downtown Kansas City
The heart of KC has grown into a bustling entertainment district over the decades and is now one of the hottest spots in the US! Featuring the newest addition, the KC Streetcar! This light rail streetcar will take you from the River Market to Union Station, and best of all, it’s completely FREE! The Power and Light District is the heart of it all and offers a wide variety of bars and restaurants to explore!
Kauffman Center of Performing Arts
The newly constructed Kauffman Center is not only visually stunning, but also a premier performance venue. The moment you walk onto the property grounds you just know you are going to experiencing something special. Check out their events calendar and ticket center below!
Union Station
Union Station is a hub of culture, education, and entertainment located at the gateway to Downtown KC. Visit traveling national exhibits, 3D movies, explore Science City, or schedule an escape room. Union Station has earned its place in history and is truly one of Kansas City’s must see landmarks. Right across the street your will find the World War II Museum which is the perfect place to view this iconic downtown view.
Kansas City River Market
This vibrant shopping and dinning district is well known for it’s wide variety of local vendors who set up every weekend to sell local, fresh produce.
